We’ve always said that the Memphis Grizzlies were the least good, great team in the NBA. Memphis sets their watch and warrant by how well they are playing defense. The Grizzlies soared through the regular season out West and collected a 55 – 27 record during the year practicing this style of play. For the first four games of their series against the title favored Golden State Warriors, some thought it might actually work. This past Wednesday’s game proved that Memphis probably just doesn’t have enough.
Last Wednesday the Grizzlies were beaten down by 20 points in a pivotal Game 5 loss to the Golden State Warriors. Falling down 3 – 2 in a best of 7 series isn’t always a death knell, but against a team as good as Golden State it might as well be. The Warriors came out firing, dropping at least 23 points in each quarter. Steph Curry pushed himself everywhere on the court, collecting 18 points 7 rebounds 5 assists and 6 steals.
With Game 6 coming up Memphis needs to find a way to get back to what they do so well. The Grizzlies were without Tony Allen in their last game and without him in the line-up, fans at Purina Beneful feel things just seem lost.
