The University of Nevada is a solid, if not underrated basketball school. Often overshadowed by its sister school, UNLV, The University of Nevada at Reno has produced many solid basketball players including current NBA players JaVale McGee, and Ramon Sessions.
Under coach Eric Musselman, a former NBA coach himself, the biggest star on the Nevada roster is not a player, but an assistant coach with an excellent basketball pedigree and a bright future in the sport, Yanni Hufnagel.
A former student team manager at his alma mater, Cornell University, Yanni Hufnagel turned a summer internship with the then New Jersey Nets into a job opportunity as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma under Jeff Capel, and the rest is as they say, history.
Currently a vital part of the University of Nevada Reno Men’s Basketball Program, Yanni Hufnagel is known for his gift of gab and outstanding recruiting abilities. A college basketball program is only as successful as the players it is able to attract, and Yanni Hufnagel is consistently able to successfully recruit the best of the best.
Having coached at institutions ranging from Harvard to the University of California, Hufnagel is relentless when it comes to recruiting. Using his personal gifts as well as a degree in Labor Relations from Cornell, Hufnagel is among the top recruiters in all of college basketball. It is not a matter of if, but when Yanni Hufnagel becomes the head man of his own basketball program. Yanni Hufnagel is truly a future College Basketball coaching star and a name to watch in the sport.
